Though slightly behind the $10.5 million haul for &#8220;Fast and Furious 6,&#8221; its gross was enough to steal second place away from &#8220;Earth.&#8221;  The Will Smith-starrer earned only $9.8 million.<\/p>\n<p>The race will be tight as the weekend continues, but it now appears &#8220;After Earth&#8221; will fall short of even its unimpressive $35 million tracking figure, while &#8220;Now You See Me&#8221; will exeed its low-$20 million expectations.  &#8220;Fast and Furious 6,&#8221; meanwhile, should still win the weekend box office race even though its Friday performance was not as dominant as many expected.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Hangover Part III&#8221; ($5.2 million) and &#8220;Star Trek Into Darkness&#8221; ($4.4 million) ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, on Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0},"categories":[36,3],"tags":[378,334,377],"adace-sponsor":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.1 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>&quot;Now You See Me&quot; Again Tops &quot;After Earth&quot; at Box Office; &quot;Fast &amp; Furious&quot; Leads<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Now You See Me proves its Thursday box office lead was not a fluke.
