Yes, Cristin Milioti, who appeared in the final scene of Monday’s “How I Met Your Mother” season finale, is indeed “The Mother.”<\/p>\n

And, yes, next season–the show’s ninth and final one–will focus exclusively on Barney and Robin’s wedding weekend.<\/p>\n

Though “How I Met Your Mother” has a habit of stringing viewers along, it also has a reputation for being honest when it reveals big twists.\u00a0 As such, there was no reason to doubt Monday’s reveal that “The Girl with the Yellow Umbrella,” played by Cristin Milioti, was “The Mother,” Future Ted’s wife.<\/p>\n

But even if there was doubt, CBS was quick to dispel it by pushing the hashtag “#wemetthemother” on Twitter.\u00a0 The company confirmed the same in a press release Tuesday, which also featured comments from creator Carter Bays.<\/p>\n

Regarding ninth season plans, Bays confirmed rumors that the entire season will focus primarily (if not exclusively) on Barney and Robin’s wedding weekend, during which Ted finally meets Cristin Milioti’s character.<\/p>\n

“Our ninth season will tell the epic story of the longest wedding weekend ever. We hope you like it. Next stop, Farhampton,” says Bays.<\/p>\n
