In sharing that mindset with reporters during a celebratory \u201cshift\u201d at the flagship Raising Cane\u2019s Chicken Fingers in Times Square this Monday, NHL star and Olympic hockey hero Jack Hughes revealed why he has been successful. He revealed why he was able to put in the tireless work, endure every challenge, and thrive \u2013 without any guarantee of a professional career, let alone a gold medal, at the end of the proverbial path.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also revealed why the incredible fame and admiration that has come with his team\u2019s success has not changed who he is. Throughout the appearance, Hughes came across as an undeniably humble, authentic athlete who<\/span> loves getting to play hockey.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, [the post-Olympics experience has not been] that wild,\u201d shared Hughes. \u201c[I\u2019m] still just a hockey player. We enjoyed [the rush] for a couple of days, but then it was back to normalcy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Caroline Harvey, the tournament MVP and a standout member of the gold medal-winning US Women\u2019s national hockey team, shared Hughes\u2019 sentiment. Present for the shift herself, the WCHA player of the year was immensely humble and accessible in her own right. She, too, is driven by her love for hockey \u2013 not by the opportunity to bask in the glory of being a <\/span>famous<\/span><\/i> hockey player and Olympic sensation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe took some days to celebrate, [but it] didn\u2019t change much,\u201d added Harvey. \u201cAnd now [we\u2019re] back into [NC Women\u2019s] playoff season.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That does not mean either is downplaying the significance of the moment. The US Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s teams both won gold medals at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics \u2013 and in both cases defeated Canada by a score of 2-1 in overtime. It was the first time the US men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams won gold in the same year, and it made for a massive statement about the global prowess of American hockey.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, they are very excited about what it means for themselves, for each other\u2019s team, for the sport of hockey, and for America overall.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c[I\u2019m] just super proud to be American and [have] done what we did,\u201d said Harvey. \u201c<\/span>The Olympics brought a lot of attention to women\u2019s hockey, and it\u2019s been such an exciting time because of that. It\u2019s so special to be part of this experience, and to be going into the league during a time like this.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSince we\u2019ve come back to the US, we feel the love,\u201d noted Hughes. \u201cPeople are so pumped for us, and all the people on the streets are just like \u2018thank you.\u2019 They\u2019re so fired up, and that\u2019s the best thing for us to hear. So that\u2019s probably the best part of coming home.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That excitement fueled a memorable \u201cshift\u201d for Hughes and Harvey, who were full of joy as they interacted with reporters, filmed social content, and worked with the Raising Cane\u2019s crew to meet fans and serve Box Combos. Both brought their gold medals along.<\/span><\/p>\n

The respect they had for each other was also evident, as they seamlessly oscillated between shared laughs and conversations about recent games.<\/span><\/p>\n

The appearance continued the beloved restaurant chain\u2019s tradition of saluting high-profile athletes after big wins.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was great having Caroline and Jack out to our Global Flagship in Times Square to celebrate their gold medal wins and the first time Team USA has won gold in both women\u2019s and men\u2019s hockey in the same year,\u201d said Raising Cane\u2019s owner and founder Todd Graves. \u201cIt\u2019s amazing seeing everyone come together to support each other to celebrate these accomplishments. Both teams did a great job representing Team USA throughout the Games, and I\u2019ve loved seeing the recognition and support of women\u2019s hockey through all of this. Caroline and Jack are leaders both on and off the ice and are great role models for the next generation of Olympians, athletes and beyond.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The spirit Hughes and Harvey demonstrated throughout their shift \u2013 one of true respect and support for each other, pure love for their craft, and appreciation for their fans and supporters \u2013 creates a natural alignment with the Raising Cane\u2019s mindset. The restaurant famously focuses on honoring its \u201cone love\u201d (quality chicken finger meals) with a refreshing energy and welcoming mindset. It takes pride in what it does \u2013 and in its ability to celebrate its impact with hard-working team members and passionate patrons.<\/span><\/p>\n
