“G.I. Joe: Retaliation” handily won the Easter weekend box office race, although it did so with an underwhelming overall total.<\/p>\n
The sequel to 2009’s summer release grossed $41.2 million this weekend and $51.7 in the four days since its release on Thursday. Though roughly in line with expectations, that number is actually below the $54+ million earned by “GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra” in its first three days.<\/p>\n
Still, it was enough to top “The Croods,” which fell to $26.5 million in its second week.<\/p>\n
“Tyler Perry’s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor” garnered $22.3 million for third place, besting the high-teens forecasts from late last week.<\/p>\n
Fellow new release “The Host” was not so lucky.
