Update:<\/b> “The Voice” kicked off its fourth season with a 4.7 adults 18-49 rating and 13.37 million viewers. It peaked with a 5.2 and 14.48 million viewers in the 9:30-10PM slot.<\/p>\n“Revolution” returned with a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating and 7.25 million viewers.<\/em><\/p>\n
NBC’s young-skewing reality juggernaut returned with an impressive 8.7 overnight metered market rating Monday. Likely to translate into a very impressive adults 18-49 number (those ratings will be released just before noon), the show’s strong household estimate actually marks an increase from the third cycle premiere in September 2012.<\/p>\n
Did “The Voice,” which features new coaches Shakira and Usher this season, benefit from a curiosity bump Monday? Perhaps. But based on buzz and the fact that the episode maintained the desirable pattern of ratings growth from start-to-finish, optimism certainly exists that the show will remain an impressive ratings performer for the duration of its fourth season.<\/p>\n
“Revolution,” which returned to complete the back portion of its inaugural season Monday, posted a 4.5 overnight rating, according to TV Media Insights.<\/p>\n
Representative of a significant decline from the 7.9 posted by the series premiere last September, the overnight number is also down 15% from the fall finale’s metered market rating.<\/p>\n
It, nonetheless, still fared significantly better than “Deception” did in the slot (though the strong “Voice” lead-in does not hurt) and will have a shot at winning the 10PM timeslot in adults 18-49.<\/p>\n
