Jason Statham might be one of entertainment’s go-to action leads, but as far as his box office prowess is concerned, he is far from a hero.<\/p>\n
“Parker,” Statham’s latest, was one of two disappointing debuts at the weekend box office. The action filmed, reviewed poorly by critics, garnered only $7 million in receipts for a fifth-place finish at the cinemas this weekend.<\/p>\n
And that was not the weekend’s biggest bust.<\/p>\n
“Movie 43,” the star-studded comedy collection, flopped with audiences as much as it did with critics. The critically-panned film, which holds a mere 5% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, opened to an abysmal $5 million for seventh place.<\/p>\n
Leading the box office charge this weekend was “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.” But with only $19 million in receipts, the film, which had the luxury of running on premium-priced 3D screens, is a disappointment in its own right.<\/p>\n
