In the wake of the Newtown tragedy, numerous radio stations have pulled “Die Young,” the glass-half-empty counterpart to One Direction’s “Live While We’re Young.”<\/p>\n
As has been the case with virtually every Ke$ha release, radio embraced the single, but in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which resulted in the death of twenty children and twenty six persons altogether, the “Die Young” theme struck nerves as inappropriate.<\/p>\n
Sensitive to the situation, Ke$ha apologized for the content of the song on Twitter, noting that she is “so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected (sic) by this tragedy.”<\/p>\n
“I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express,” the singer-songwriter Tweeted to her 3.2 million followers.<\/p>\n
Update:<\/b> Ke$ha has since removed the following from her Twitter timeline:<\/em><\/p>\n Prior to issuing that apology, Ke$ha actually distanced herself from the song, explaining, “I had my very own issue with “die young” for this reason.
