After launching “Arrow” to strong premiere numbers and “Beauty and the Beast” to respectable ones, The CW struggled to get “Emily Owens, MD” off the ground Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The new series garnered a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating with 1.7 million viewers for its premiere Tuesday. Though sadly not a bad number when compared to other network series, including “90210,” “Gossip Girl” and the show’s lead-in “Hart of Dixie,” that is a weak performance for a series premiere.<\/p>\n
“Arrow” and “Beauty” more than doubled that adults 18-49 number in their premieres, and the former did so as a self-starter at 8PM.<\/p>\n
“Owens” did go against the Presidential Debate, although given the typical skew of the network and the absence of any competitive scripted fare in the timeslot, it is doubtfully had a great impact on the show’s ratings.<\/p>\n
