Both CM Punk and the fan he struck at Monday’s WWE RAW were victims of circumstance, and in a WWE.com statement, the wrestler apologizes for the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the whole situation sucks,\u201d Punk told WWE.com. \u201cIt\u2019s an unfortunate and isolated incident. I was up in the stands, surrounded.\u201d<\/p>\n
With the wrestler unprotected by security, various fans touched and shoved Punk during the segment. At one point, it appeared one fan got pushed into a frustrated Punk, who reacted with a backhand shot and then another punch.<\/p>\n
\u201cSomebody said, \u2018let\u2019s push him down the stairs,\u2019\u201d Punk explained. \u201cI got hit in the ribs three times. I was getting shoved and I was getting punched\u2026Then I started getting tagged in the back of the head. Unfortunately, I lashed out in the heat of the moment and I apologize. I\u2019m really just glad nobody was hurt.”<\/p>\n
