The Raptors’ effort to pry away Landry Fields made a Knicks deal for Steve Nash seem less likely, but according to Yahoo! Sports, the New York franchise might still be the frontrunner.<\/p>\n

According to the story, the Knicks would be able to offer Nash $27-30 million over three years as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Phoenix Suns. In exchange for Nash, the Knicks would send popular–but presently injured–rookie Iman Shumper and at least two other players, believed to include Toney Douglas and Dan Gadzuric, to Phoenix.<\/p>\n

Toronto, which made things complicated for the Knicks by offering possible trade prospect Landry Fields $20 million over three years, was one of the prime suitors for the Canadian Nash. The team offered the point guard a three-year, $36 million deal that could not be matched by other teams around the league, but according to sources, Nash would prefer to join New York if the team could at least come close to matching the Raptors’ deal.<\/p>\n

Late Tuesday, reports from various media indicated that the Lakers and Mavericks also remained in the hunt for Nash.<\/p>\n
