{"id":14590,"date":"2012-06-30T15:07:09","date_gmt":"2012-06-30T20:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.headlineplanet.com\/home\/?p=14590"},"modified":"2012-06-30T15:07:34","modified_gmt":"2012-06-30T20:07:34","slug":"ted-magic-mike-greatly-overperform-at-box-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/headlineplanet.com\/home\/2012\/06\/30\/ted-magic-mike-greatly-overperform-at-box-office\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Ted,&#8221; &#8220;Magic Mike&#8221; Greatly Overperform at Box Office"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So much for projections that &#8220;Ted&#8221; and &#8220;Magic Mike&#8221; would only deliver &#8220;sleeper&#8221; caliber totals at the box office this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>After topping expectations for their midnight screenings, both films ended up blowing Friday forecasts out of the water.  &#8220;Ted&#8221; topped the box office with a whopping $20.2 million on Friday, and &#8220;Magic Mike&#8221; was very close behind with $19.4 million.<\/p>\n<p>Most analysts were not giving either film a chance of going higher than $25 million for the entire weekend, so the two represent a rare case of overperformance for the summer 2012 box office.
