With his military background and exciting fighting style, Brian Stann is a natural candidate for representing UFC to the general public.<\/p>\n
And if he can survive the dangerous Hector Lombard on the fourth FOX show this August, he will use fighting ability to justify every ounce of that hype.<\/p>\n
But before that anticipated fight, Stann will enjoy another attempt to solidify his name value before a national television audience. Coming off a well-received turn as an analyst on Fuel, Stann will join Curt Menefee and Randy Couture as an analyst for Sunday’s UFC on FOX 3: Diaz vs. Miller event.<\/p>\n
“I was fortunate to get selected for this position because the people at FOX and UFC trust me to always do my homework,” an enthusiastic Stann confirmed to Headline Planet in a media call this week. “I\u2019m a student of the game. I\u2019m going to know all the fighters and the fights that are on the card and then I\u2019m fortunate that I\u2019ve been born with the ability to think quickly. I\u2019ve got to go out there and perform this weekend so that I can get invited back to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
UFC President Dana White, however, disagrees with Stann’s assertion that he was “fortunate” and “lucky” to receive the opportunity.<\/p>\n
White clarified, \u201cHe\u2019s an absolute stud. He\u2019s great at what he does. He didn\u2019t slide into this spot because he\u2019s lucky. He\u2019s very intelligent, articulate and knows the fight game inside and out. We\u2019re so pumped to have him as one of the analysts for us now.\u201d<\/p>\n
And Menefee shared in that praise, explaining that Stann’s comfort in front of the camera and natural eloquence should produce in great broadcasting work this weekend.<\/p>\n
Stann, meanwhile, did not wait until Saturday evening to show off his skills. During the media call, the middleweight fighter broke down some of the key fights, including the divisionally-relevant Rousimar Palhares vs. Alan Belcher battle, in articulate, informed fashion.<\/p>\n
But no matter how much skill he shows at the table this weekend, fighting remains his top priority.<\/p>\n
He explained, “I love doing it, but my first priority right now is a fighter. The next fight I\u2019ve got coming up is one of the biggest fights of my career and it\u2019s an amazing opportunity for me.
