While CBS’ flagship comedy lineup returned Monday with less heat than it had in the fall, it appears television viewers were ready for a New Year of ABC comedy. All of the network’s series were up in the ratings Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Though competition was very light without “The X Factor” and an original “Criminal Minds,” “Modern Family” can still be thankful that it bounced back to a 5.6 adults 18-49 rating with 14.0 million, which is basically on par with its marks from earlier in the season.<\/p>\n

Lead-out “Happy Endings” benefited, rising to a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating and 7.7 million.<\/p>\n

“The Middle” (3.0, 10.0 million) and “Suburgatory” (2.9, 8.7 million) were also up from their prior telecasts; the extent to which they climbed due to the lack of original NBC comedy episodes remains to be seen.<\/p>\n
