The disappointing adults 18-49 performance for “Charlie’s Angels” revealed the importance of waiting until the fast nationals release, but based on the overnights, ABC’s “Pan Am” looks to have been successful.<\/p>\n
It certainly looks to have outperformed NBC’s dud “The Playboy Club,” which also brings the “Mad Men” idea of a vintage series to network television.<\/p>\n
TV Media Insights lists the “Pan Am” opener at an 8.7 metered market rating. That suggets the new series was sampled in more households than anything but football action and “60 Minutes” Sunday night.<\/p>\n
(Update: “Pan Am” was not a world-beater with a 3.1 adults 18-49 rating, but that is still a solid adults 18-49 mark for 10PM. And the performance deserves special credit because…)<\/p>\n
Among households, it appears to have built upon its “Desperate Housewives” lead-in, which only mustered a 7.1 (a steep decline from last year’s 9.2).<\/p>\n
(Update: “Housewives” posted the same 3.1 in the demo, a big win for “Pan Am” as far as retention is concerned. This was the lowest “Housewives” premiere ever)<\/p>\n
