Sunday’s eagerly anticipated “Game Of Thrones” season premiere attracted season high interest in various columns.<\/p>\n

HBO notes that it drew 17.4 million same-night multi-platform viewers (linear TV, HBO Go and HBO NOW), which represents a new series high. Its live+same-day linear TV number clocked in at 11.8 million, representing a new high for a season premiere and the show’s #2 figure on record. The same-night HBO Now number soared to a new high — not just for “Game Of Thrones” but for HBO overall (granted, that means the HBO Go number fell).<\/p>\n

The episode also set series highs on the social media front, generating “more than five million tweets, and 11 million mentions throughout the course of the weekend.”<\/p>\n

On the heels of Sunday’s premiere, HBO finally shared a true episodic gallery from the episode. Presumably to preserve the surprise element, it had previously only offered nondescript shots.<\/p>\n
