Late Friday night, actress-singer Dove Cameron posted a short video to her Instagram account.<\/p>\n
The mirror selfie video finds the “Descendants” star posing in a bikini.<\/p>\n
The video does open the door to a logical criticism. Insofar as it uses a decidedly blurry filter, it does not offer a clear look at the gorgeous entertainer.<\/p>\n
Some Instagram users nonetheless went in a different criticism. They ripped Dove for the explicit nature of the picture.<\/p>\n
She initially addressed the reaction in the video’s caption, noting “i love the female body (guys if i\u2019m in a bathing suit, and i\u2019m 23 and you\u2019re tripping, you need to re-evaluate what trips you up. and also get more comfortable w the human body).”<\/p>\n
Later, she posted Bouguereau’s classic “The Birth Of Venus” painting, which depicts nudity.<\/p>\n
“the human body isn\u2019t offensive y\u2019all,” she wrote in the lengthy caption. “Stop objectifying women so hard that you convince yourself that something natural and beautiful could ever be something offensive. also let women define their own bodies & their relationship to their bodies for themselves. stop defining women\u2019s bodies for said women. (goes for women shaming women as well).<\/p>\n
“it\u2019s so repressed and unhealthy to look at nakedness and see something bad. it\u2019s just hundreds of years of social conditioning & it\u2019s super weird. we should be done with this whole shame thing.”<\/p>\n
