The weekend’s only major new release predictably conquered the US Friday box office.<\/p>\n
“Glass,” that film, took first place with $16.0 million in opening day receipts. The figure positions “Glass” for a three-day weekend tally in the $40-45 million range. With MLK Day included, it may hit the $50 million mark.<\/p>\n
“The Upside,” last weekend’s winner, took #2 in its second Friday with $4.2 million. It should earn $14-16 million over three days and $17-20 million across the four-day weekend.<\/p>\n
“Aquaman” grabbed #3 on the Friday chart with $2.5 million. Analysts have the film closing the three-day weekend with $9-11 million and the four-day weekend with $12-14 million.<\/p>\n
Credited with $2.4 million from just under 500 screens, “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” grabbed #4 on the Friday chart. Projected for $5-8 million across three days and $6-9 million across four, it may just miss the Top 5 of the weekend chart.<\/p>\n
“Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” settled for #5 on Friday with $1.8 million. Projected for $6-9 million for the three-day weekend and $7-10 million for the four-day weekend, it may move ahead of “Dragon Ball.”<\/p>\n
“A Dog’s Way Home,” Friday’s #6 film, may also reach the Top 5 on the weekend charts.
