“Green Lantern” premiered with a soft opening weekend box office performance, and its drop of about 65% in week two was even more disappointing. Yet according to THR, Warner Bros. is still pushing for a sequel to its latest comic adaptation.<\/p>\n
Having grossed less than $90 million after two weekends in play, “Green Lantern” simply failed to launch, and the “settling in” claim from WB’s Dan Fellman seems particularly confusing given the strong drop-off in week two.<\/p>\n
The launch of similarly-skewing “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” will not help matters as “Lantern” tries to hook moviegoers in the coming weekends.<\/p>\n
Yet the studio is looking for a successful franchise, and with the popular Ryan Reynolds in the feature role, the feeling is that “Green Lantern” could still represent a valuable asset.<\/p>\n
