Having already grossed more than $200 million worldwide, “The Hangover Part II” appears to have paved the way for another sequel. While nothing is confirmed, THR and Deadline report that early talks are in motion for a third film.<\/p>\n
A no-brainer given the box office success and fan acclaim for both films, there are still some hurdles as far as negotiations go. The cast is not locked in for a third film, and as the dynamic between Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms is central to the film’s success, it would be tough to pull off a second sequel without the full cast. As it is, critical reviews were weak for “Part II.”<\/p>\n
After accepting soft paydays for the first film, The Wolfpack, according to Deadline, negotiated to each receive compensation in the realm of $5 million against 4% of the gross for “Part II,” and the massive box office success has likely driven the asking price way up.<\/p>\n
Director Todd Phillips, as an equity owner, ended up making about $50 million for his work on the first film after accepting 10% against the gross. THR cites that he has “intimated” having an idea for a third film.<\/p>\n
