Former WWE main-eventer Chris Jericho, who became something of a friend to “American Idol” contestant James Durbin, blamed Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'” as he addressed the rocker’s surprise elimination Thursday.<\/p>\n
Durbin, who made headlines for his pro wrestling fandom and subsequently started to socialize with wrestling names like Jericho, The Miz and Maryse, was eliminated after his performances of the Journey classic, as well as “Love Potion No. 9,” on Wednesday’s Final Four “Idol” show.<\/p>\n
Jericho, who also bonded with Durbin over the reality show experience–he was a contestant on this year’s “Dancing with the Stars”–noted that both were eliminated after performing to “Don’t Stop Believin’,” thus indicating a Journey curse on reality shows.<\/p>\n
He commented on Twitter, “James’ downfall was the same as mine on DWTS. Journey is cursed,” adding, “Fun Fact- Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin killed @iamjericho @JDurbinAI10 and Tony Soprano… Steve Perry is an assasin [sic].”<\/p>\n
Speaking of his disappointment over Durbin’s elimination, Jericho also acknowledged his disappointment with Steven Tyler’s new single “(It) Feels So Good.” The video for the track premiered on “Idol” Thursday.<\/p>\n
