The news is not looking good for its “Wonder Woman” pilot, but NBC was not only in the bad news business Wednesday. It extended some series orders to pilots that came from its in-house Universal Media Studios.<\/p>\n
Confirmed for next season is its buzzworthy, Broadway-themed drama “Smash,” which had been touted as a more adult version of “Glee” throughout development season. The “Smash” order was as much of a no-brainer as is possible in the world of television pickups.<\/p>\n
The network also ordered Maria Bello-starrer “Prime Suspect,” Whitney Cummings comedy “Whitney” and what Deadline reports is now called “Up All Night” (the Christina Applegate vehicle previously known as “Alpha Mom”).<\/p>\n
As for non-Universal pilots, “The Playboy Club” and “REM” look to be in good shape to receive series orders in the coming days.<\/p>\n
On the comedy side, Chelsea Handler’s “Are You There, Vodka?” is a near-lock for an order.
