According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, the episode drew a 0.64 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 1.63 million overall viewers.<\/p>\n
Though the metric is less relevant to the subscription-based HBO than it is to ad-supported networks, it is worth noting that this week’s adults 18-49 rating represents a new series low.<\/p>\n
Live+same-day ratings do not remotely tell the full story, particularly when it comes to HBO programs like “Westworld.” With viewership from on-demand, DVR, HBO NOW\/GO, and encores included, this week’s episode will reach far more than 1.6 million viewers.<\/p>\n
Signposted by its quick commitment to a third season, HBO is obviously content with the overall viewership level (as well as the buzz associated with the show).<\/p>\n
Still, it is hard not to be somewhat underwhelmed by the show’s live+same-day performance thus far this season. While no one expected the show to break out like “Game Of Thrones,” expecting the show to build slightly on its first season numbers did not seem unreasonable.<\/p>\n
