Of note is the fact that Lauren Alaina, who received glowing reviews for showing a fun side (Carrie Underwood’s underappreciated “Flat on the Floor”) and a powerhouse side (a rendition of the Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody” that was definitely better than Kellie Pickler’s season five rendition), is not trending in any way on the chart. Trending is not a forecast of voting results, and the favored Lauren has no obvious reason to worry. Yet the lack of buzz does suggest that no one saw either of her performances as particularly special–her safety will have to come down to consistency and likeability.<\/p>\n
