Season seven “American Idol” winner David Cook will be following in the footsteps of fellow contestants Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood and Ruben Studdard in contributing a farewell song for the show.<\/p>\n

FOX confirmed that Cook’s cover of Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” famous for its inclusion in the soundtrack to “The Breakfast Club,” has been tapped as the ‘goodbye’ song this year.<\/p>\n

The cover of the 1985 hit will play each Thursday night as one of the Top 13 finalists is eliminated and sent packing.<\/p>\n
