been consistently good, that statement ultimately means that \u201cTNHMB\u201d is great.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTNHMB\u201d displays a level of dynamics not seen any Mendes\u2019 previous releases.\u00a0 The composition, production and vocals properly rise and fall, leading to an immersive experience.\u00a0 Whereas Mendes\u2019 music has always made for a pleasant listen, \u201cTNHMB\u201d truly engages and captivates audiences.\u00a0 It creates a legitimate connection between Mendes and his listeners.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to demonstrating a more dynamic vocal delivery, Mendes sings with more confidence and charisma than ever before.<\/p>\n<p>Paired with strong instrumentals (including 80s-style guitar that wonderfully complements his delivery on the chorus), Mendes\u2019 vocal showing positions \u201cTNHMB\u201d as a legitimate event.<\/p>\n<p>It absolutely cements the song as one of the year\u2019s best pop hits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14) Redbone by Childish Gambino<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"g1-fluid-wrapper-counter-2\" class=\"g1-fluid-wrapper \" style=\"width:662px;\" data-g1-fluid-width=\"662\" data-g1-fluid-height=\"372\">\n<div Gambino\u201d Glover decided to make a psychedelic funk song like \u201cRedbone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yes, it is impressive that the song so credibly captures the sound of a previous era.\u00a0 This is not a song \u201cinspired\u201d by the past; it is one immersed in it.<\/p>\n<p>What really makes \u201cRedbone\u201d special, however, is its sheer quality.\u00a0 It is not special simply because the artist took a risk.\u00a0 It is special because it is a truly great record.<\/p>\n<p>Best of all, despite its throwback nature, \u201cRedbone\u201d still possesses an enormous degree of modern pop sensibility.\u00a0 It may feel like it came from the 1960s or 1970s, but it still sounded right for radio in 2017.\u00a0 Catchy with resonant lyrics, \u201cRedbone\u201d is an accessible, engaging record that warranted the hype \u2013 and success \u2013 it enjoyed throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>It is a nominee for Record Of The Year (among other awards) at the upcoming Grammy Awards.<\/p>\n<p>It is also one of the best pop hits of 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13) Something Just Like This by The Chainsmokers &amp; Coldplay<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"g1-fluid-wrapper-counter-3\" class=\"g1-fluid-wrapper \" style=\"width:662px;\" data-g1-fluid-width=\"662\" data-g1-fluid-height=\"372\">\n<div class=\"g1-fluid-wrapper-inner\" style=\"padding-bottom:56.19335347432%;\">\n\t accentuates each act\u2019s strengths.\u00a0 The beat, production and electronic components are every bit as lush and enthralling as those on The Chainsmokers\u2019 own breakthrough hits.<\/p>\n<p>Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, meanwhile, sings with the conviction and charisma that have cemented his status as one of music\u2019s elite frontman.\u00a0 Avoiding the trap that plagues so many EDM-pop vocalists, Martin never comes across as a passenger on a production-driven journey.\u00a0 He always seems to be steering the ship.<\/p>\n<p>Compelling throughout, \u201cSomething Just Like This\u201d builds to a downright magical conclusion.\u00a0 The fusion of glorious guitar work, stunning electronic production and Martin\u2019s vocals creates one of the year\u2019s best sonic \u201cmoments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The entire effort makes for one of the year\u2019s best pop hits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12) That\u2019s What I Like by Bruno Mars<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"g1-fluid-wrapper-counter-4\" class=\"g1-fluid-wrapper \" style=\"width:662px;\" data-g1-fluid-width=\"662\" data-g1-fluid-height=\"372\">\n<div class=\"g1-fluid-wrapper-inner\" Funk,\u201d and it is not in the hands of another artist.<\/p>\n<p>It is a platform for Bruno Mars to be Bruno Mars.<\/p>\n<p>It is an opportunity for Mars to showcase the confidence, swagger, charisma and vocal prowess that make him one of the most (if not the most) compelling artists in mainstream music.<\/p>\n<p>Bruno Mars absolutely seizes the opportunity.\u00a0 His game, dynamic, self-assured delivery epitomizes the term \u201csuperstar.\u201d\u00a0 He invites listeners into his world \u2013 and dazzles them when they get there.<\/p>\n<p>Mars\u2019 performance is the highlight, but the production more than holds up its end of the bargain.\u00a0 Not simply a complement for Mars\u2019 vocal showcase, the production elevates \u201cThat\u2019s What I Like\u201d into a striking, infectious, unforgettable pop record.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s What I Like\u201d showcases the brilliance of Bruno Mars.\u00a0 It certainly ranks as one of the year\u2019s best pop hits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11) Malibu by Miley Cyrus<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"g1-fluid-wrapper-counter-5\" class=\"g1-fluid-wrapper \" style=\"width:662px;\" data-g1-fluid-width=\"662\" data-g1-fluid-height=\"372\">\n<div class=\"g1-fluid-wrapper-inner\" style=\"padding-bottom:56.19335347432%;\">\n\t       <iframe width=\"662\" height=\"372\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8j9zMok6two?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" gesture=\"media\" allow=\"encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\t       <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>While typically intended as a compliment, the term \u201cversatile\u201d does not do Miley Cyrus justice.<\/p>\n<p>She is not simply capable of adapting to the sounds of different genres and eras.\u00a0 She completely immerses herself in her music, making songs of any style sound like they completely belong to her.<\/p>\n<p>The outstanding \u201cMalibu\u201d exemplifies this point.<\/p>\n<p>With rootsy, surf-rock elements, \u201cMalibu\u201d marks a substantial departure from the songs on \u201cBangerz\u201d \u2013 her last commercial offering.\u00a0 Yet Cyrus performs the song as if she has spent her entire life making this kind of music.\u00a0 Forget \u201ccredible,\u201d this record sounds downright authentic.<\/p>\n<p>Cyrus\u2019 talent, it should be noted, goes beyond her \u201cchameleon\u201d skills.\u00a0 She is also a commanding, dynamic, passionate vocalist who tells a compelling story with each and every note.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond that, she is an unapologetic vocalist.\u00a0 Whereas some pop artists mute their quirks, Cyrus embraces them.\u00a0 Her pronunciation of \u201cyewww\u201d and \u201cMalibewww\u201d is surely polarizing, but it also gives the song a raw, honest, real quality.\u00a0 It establishes Cyrus as someone who is personally connected to her music \u2013 as someone who is sharing rather than merely performing.<\/p>\n<p>Top-to-bottom, \u201cMalibu\u201d is a stunning record.\u00a0 Precise in when to support and when to contrast with the vocal delivery, the production accentuates Cyrus\u2019 fantastic
