Wednesday’s “Mr. Robot” enjoyed a gain in adults 18-49 but a loss in overall live+same-day viewership.<\/p>\n
Though slight, the viewership loss resulted in a new series low.<\/p>\n
According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s “Mr. Robot” drew a 0.20 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 437,000 overall viewers.<\/p>\n
Last week’s episode posted a 0.17 in the demo and 443,000 in viewership. At the time, both<\/i> numbers represented series lows (the demo rating obviously still holds that distinction).<\/p>\n
While it was by no means a live+same-day ratings hit, the first season of “Mr. Robot” produced respectable numbers by cable standards (especially given that it is a fundamentally niche show).<\/p>\n
Viewership fell sharply in season two — and has fallen again in season three.<\/p>\n
On the one hand, it is worth noting that season three is airing in a theoretically more competitive time of the year than the first two chapters. Season three did not start until October, while the first two seasons aired in the summer — and concluded their runs by September.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, it is not as if competition is actually<\/i> steep right now. No other 10PM shows have been posting intimidating numbers on Wednesdays.<\/p>\n
Buzz has also fallen greatly, although “Mr. Robot” certainly generates more overall fan interest than its modest live+same-day ratings suggest.<\/p>\n
