In an early February press announcement, NBC said Ed Sheeran would be performing on the February 10 “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

The idea of a February 10 “Tonight Show” performance seemed logical given that Sheeran was in New York for the following night’s “SNL” (which broadcasts from the same Rockefeller Center venue), but the listing was quickly pulled without explanation. Sheeran did not, in fact, perform on the February 10 episode.

He evidently will be performing on an upcoming episode.

NBC now lists the musician for the March 3 “Tonight Show.” The performance is notably scheduled for the day his eagerly anticipated album “Divide” hits the market.

Samuel L. Jackson and Dakota Fanning will be interview guests on the episode.

NBC’s “Tonight Show” listings follow:

Monday, February 27: Guests include Aaron Paul, Keri Russell and musical guest 2 Chainz ft. Gucci Mane Show 632

Tuesday, February 28: Guests include Michael Shannon, Alicia Keys and musical guest John Mellencamp ft. Martina McBride. Show 633

Wednesday, March 1: Guests include Jennifer Lopez, Jeff Probst and musical guest Depeche Mode. Show 634

Thursday, March 2: Guests include Octavia Spencer, John Lithgow and musical guest Luke Bryan. Show 635

Friday, March 3: Guest include Samuel L. Jackson, Dakota Fanning and musical guest Ed Sheeran. Show 636

With little warning, Future released a self-titled album on February 17.

He released “HNDRXX,” another new album, on February 24.

Is he set to release a third new album on March 3?

That is the rumor going around. An article on NPR first acknowledged the possibility, and the listing for Future’s March 2 “Ellen DeGeneres Show” performance provides additional support for the notion.

“He has the #1 album in the country this week with ‘Future,’ and is attempting to have three #1 albums in a row in three weeks – which will make him the first in history to do that,” writes the official “Ellen DeGeneres Show” website.

Future does not appear on the “Fifty Shades Darker” soundtrack, which hit #1 the week prior to “Future.” The only way he could achieve three #1 albums in a row would be to release a chart-topping follow-up to “HNDRXX” next week.

Granted, achieving a third #1 may be impossible even if Future does release a new album on March 3. Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” also arrives that day, and it would be the heavy favorite in a head-to-head race with a new Future album.

A listing on the “Ellen” website is not tantamount to confirmation from the artist or label, but it will certainly keep the rumor alive.

Calvin Harris’ new single “Slide (featuring Frank Ocean & Migos)” has predictably moved into an impressive position on the US iTunes sales chart.

As of press time at 4:15PM ET, it is #5 on the all-genre listing. Only The Chainsmokers & Coldplay’s “Something Just Like This” (#1), Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” (#2), Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” (#3), and Sam Hunt’s “Body Like A Back Road” (#4) are currently selling at a faster pace.

Two other new collaborations are also making waves on the chart.

Zedd & Alessia Cara’s “Stay,” which arrived Thursday, is #7 as of press time. Future’s new “Selfish (featuring Rihanna)” is #10.

The Weeknd’s “I Feel It Coming (featuring Daft Punk)” and Jon Bellion’s “All Time Low” are poised to reach new peaks on this week’s pop radio airplay chart.

The former is slated to move into the Top 5, while the latter should score a Top 10 position.

“I Feel It Coming” received 9,106 spins during the first five days of the February 19-25 tracking week. Up 7.0% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots the single at #5 on Mediabase’s building chart.

Facing no imminent threat from below, “I Feel It Coming” should retain its position through the close of tracking.

“All Time Low,” which received 6,653 spins during the five-day window (+5.9%), is #10 on the building chart.

Clean Bandit’s building #12 “Rockabye (featuring Sean Paul & Anne-Marie)” is rising at a faster pace (6,138, +15.1%), but it will probably not be able to close the gap this week.
