Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left To Cry” and Marshmello & Anne-Marie’s “FRIENDS” are both moving toward the Top 5 at pop radio.

At least one of the two will officially enter the region on this week’s chart.

“No Tears Left To Cry” currently has a very narrow lead.

The song received 5,212 spins during the first three days of the June 10-16 tracking period. Besting last week’s mark by 8.3%, the tally slots “No Tears Left To Cry” at #5 on the building/real-time chart.

“FRIENDS” is very close behind. The song received 5,205 spins during the aforementioned three-day window (+6.3%) and currently sits at #6 on the building chart.

Since there are no imminent threats from below, at least one of the songs will make the Top 5 on this week’s chart (which will be published Sunday). Given that they are separated by only seven spins, it is too early to confidently predict which one will end the week with a better ranking.

Can both make the Top 5? The answer to that question will hinge on the rate at which Camila Cabello’s “Never Be The Same” decelerates.

The song is currently #4 on the building chart with 5,625 spins; its count trails the same-time-last-week mark by 9.6%.

If all three songs precisely maintain their trajectories, “Never Be The Same” will remain slightly ahead of “No Tears Left To Cry” and “FRIENDS” on the final chart. If, however, “Never Be The Same” starts to fall even slightly faster (or if the other two songs start to gain even slightly faster), it could end up below both songs.

This race will definitely be one to watch as the week progresses!
