New release “Rampage” narrowly topped “A Quiet Place” to rank as Friday’s #1 film in the United States.

The latter is nonetheless on track to top the full weekend chart. It will be celebrating a second week at #1.

“Rampage” earned $11.5 million at the Friday box office. Analysts expect the film to close its debut weekend with $29-33 million receipts.

“A Quiet Place” should earn a slightly bigger weekend total. The film, which earned $10.5 million on Friday, should net $31-35 million for the weekend.

New release “Truth Or Dare” was #3 on Friday the 13th with $8.2 million. Pacing for $18-21 million in receipts, the film should keep its #3 position for the weekend.

“Blockers” ($3.2 million, #4) and “Ready Player One” ($2.9 million, #5) completed Friday’s Top 5. They may flip positions on the weekend chart, with “Ready Player One” earning $10-12 million and “Blockers” earning $9-11 million.
