Yes, the second episode of “Krypton” endured week-over-week declines in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.
Those declines were not, however, as dramatic as those suffered by fellow Syfy drama “Happy.”
According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s “Krypton” drew a 0.30 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 1.08 million overall viewers.
The numbers trail those of the series premiere by 29% and 18%, respectively.
While neither decline is ideal (the demo drop is actually rather sharp) both pale in comparison to those endured by “Happy.”
That show, which drew a 0.40 adults 18-49 rating and 1.10 million viewers in week one, crashed to a 0.17 rating (-58%) and 0.61 million viewer mark (-45%) for its second episode.
As dramas — especially those that received considerable early hype — sometimes decline for several weeks after their premieres, “Krypton” is certainly not out of the woods just yet. There is no guarantee it will stabilize at this level.
Still, when one considers the situation — last week’s premiere received tepid reviews, and its numbers were likely inflated by the “curiosity boost” — this week’s decline is not itself cause for serious alarm.
