Early US Sales Projections Emerge For “Black Panther,” “Fifty Shades Freed” Soundtracks

Both will debut with similar sales total, but “Black Panther” will generate far more consumption units.

Initial US album sales and consumption projections have emerged for the “Black Panther” and “Fifty Shades Freed” soundtracks.

Based on opening day data, Hits Daily Double expects “Black Panther” to sell 35-40,000 pure US copies this week. The inclusion of TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) should yield a first-week consumption total of 110-120,000 units.

A consumption total in that range would almost certainly net “Black Panther” #1 on this week’s Billboard 200. The sales total may not, however, be enough to defeat the enduring “Greatest Showman” soundtrack for #1 on the Top Album Sales chart. The soundtrack moved over 50,000 pure copies this past week.

The “Fifty Shades Freed” soundtrack should meanwhile debut with 30-40,000 sales and 50-60,000 total units.
