“Roar” Goes 10x Platinum In US, Making Katy Perry The First Artist With 3 Diamond Songs

Katy Perry becomes the only artist to score three diamond song certifications in the US.

Thursday brought big news — and a new record — for Katy Perry.

“Roar,” the superstar artist’s 2013 smash, officially earned a 10x platinum certification in the United States.

The certification makes Katy Perry the first (and only) artist to receive three diamond song certifications from the RIAA.

Perry previously received 10x platinum awards for her hits “Dark Horse (featuring Juicy J)” and “Firework.”

“Once again, Katy Perry has made history,” Cary Sherman, Chairman and CEO of the RIAA. “We are thrilled to recognize Katy as the first artist to earn three Diamond Song Awards. Katy has a singular track record of notable Gold & Platinum achievements, and this triple Diamond milestone is now forever etched in our program’s history. Only 14 songs have earned Diamond status to date, and Katy owns three of them — what a remarkable achievement and testament to a groundbreaking artist.”

A 10x platinum award confirms 10 million in US units. Each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.
