Aided by “on the hour” support from iHeartMedia stations and general enthusiasm over the collaboration, David Guetta & Justin Bieber’s “2U” received a substantial amount of initial support at pop radio.

According to Mediabase, “2U” closed Friday (its first day of release) with 1,557 pop radio spins.

The count positions “2U” at #32 on Mediabase’s building pop chart, which ranks songs based on the first six days of the June 4-10 tracking period.

While “2U” will not receive as many spins on Saturday, it will surely receive enough to remain comfortably in the Top 40.

— Pop was not the only format to show support for “2U.” The song also received airplay at the hot adult contemporary and rhythmic formats.

Spun 172 times at Hot AC radio by the close of Friday, it holds #44 on that format’s building airplay chart.
