The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s” Wins US Sales Race; Bryson Tiller Earns #1 On Billboard 200

The Beatles’ 1967 classic posted the week’s best album sales total, but Tiller’s “True To Self” rules the BB200.

Update: It’s official: the 50th anniversary re-issue of The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” takes #1 on this week’s Billboard Top Album Sales chart.

It earns the position thanks to what Billboard reports as 71K pure US sales for the May 26-June 1 tracking week.

With TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) included, “Sgt. Pepper’s” generated 75K in overall consumption. That is enough for #3 on the Billboard 200.

Bryson Tiller’s “True To Self” tops that chart with 107K total units (47K from sales).

Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN.” takes #2 on the Billboard 200 with 84K, while Drake’s “More Life” (50K units) follows The Beatles’ album at #4.

Lil Yachty’s “Teenage Emotions,” which drove 46K in opening week units, takes #5 on the chart.

Released in 1967, The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” is widely regarded as one of the best albums of all time.

In a testament to its enduring legacy, it won this week’s US album sales race.

According to BuzzAngle Music and Hits Daily Double, the 50th Anniversary re-issue of “Sgt. Pepper’s” sold approximately 61,521 pure US copies during the May 26-June 1, 2017 tracking week. The count, which ranks as the week’s best pure sales total, will position “Sgt. Pepper’s” at #1 on Billboard Top Album Sales.

With TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) included, “Sgt. Pepper’s” generated approximately 66,400 US consumption units. That figure should be enough for #3 on the Billboard 200 consumption chart.

Bryson Tiller’s “True To Self” will take #1 on that listing. The album generated approximately 116,471 US consumption units during its first week of release. Pure sales comprise ~47,209 of those units, with the remainder coming from streams and track sales.

Credited with about 81,954 units this week, Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN.” will take #2 on the Billboard 200.

Due Sunday, Billboard’s more authoritative data will differ slightly from that reported by Hits. The discrepancies will not, however, be enough to yield different number ones. “Sgt. Pepper’s” will take #1 on Top Album Sales, while “True To Self” will rule the Billboard 200.
