The second single from Shawn Mendes’ “Illuminate” is now platinum in the United States.

The RIAA confirms that Mendes’ “Mercy” received a platinum award on May 8, 2017.

A platinum certification confirms at least 1 million in US units; each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

“Mercy” was the follow-up to “Treat You Better,” which is currently triple platinum in the US. The “Illuminate” album on which they appear is gold.
