Miley Cyrus’ “Malibu” received a healthy amount of first day airplay at pop radio.

According to Mediabase, the new single received 884 spins on Thursday.

In addition to the enthusiasm one would expect for a new Miley Cyrus single, the count was bolstered by “on the hour” airplay support across the iHeartMedia Network.

The spin count positions “Malibu” at #38 on Mediabase’s building pop chart, which ranks songs based on airplay for the first five days of the May 7-13 tracking period.

It is unclear what kind of airplay the song will receive on Friday and Saturday, but it should receive enough to remain inside the Top 40 as the chart goes final.
