Harry Styles’ “Sign Of The Times” Affected By Spotify Glitches, Still Ranked At #20 Friday

Harry Styles [ABC]

Throughout Friday, Spotify users noticed glitches when trying to access Harry Styles’ “Sign Of The Times” on Spotify.

It did not properly appear in the search function, and at times did not play whatsoever.

The glitches surely had an impact on the song’s opening day streaming numbers.

According to Spotifycharts.com, “Sign Of The Times” registered 2.165 million global streams on Friday. The figure was enough for #20 on the global chart. It was meanwhile #14 in the UK (276K) and #19 in the US (785K).

While those daily numbers would be nothing at which to sneeze in most cases, they certainly do not befit a release of this magnitude. They clearly suggest a detrimental effect associated with the glitches.

Searching remains very difficult on the streaming platform. A search for “Harry Styles” does not yield an official artist page the way it would for most artists, and the song is not one of the top hits for “Sign Of The Times.”

Given its lead position on the New Music Friday playlist, its #2 position on the Pop Rising playlist and the ability to discover the track by searching for “harry styles sign of the times,” the single will continue to amass streams.

Unfortunately, its performance will be bottlenecked until the Spotify glitches are fully resolved.
