Ratings: HBO’s “Big Little Lies” Finale Posts 34% Viewership Gain, Sets New High

Big Little Lies [HBO]

The final episode of “Big Little Lies” was the series’ highest-rated and most-watched episode.

According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s episode drew a 0.66 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 1.86 million overall viewers.

The numbers convincingly top the 0.54 rating and 1.39 million viewer mark posted by last week’s episode, which at the time ranked as series highs.

Buoyed by investment in the storyline and strong word-of-mouth, “Big Little Lies” caught fire in the latter half of its 7-episode season. The final three episodes each set what (at the time) ranked as series highs in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.

HBO’s Sunday also included “Girls” (0.35, 0.77 million this week vs. 0.30, 0.68 million last week), “Crashing” (0.19, 0.47m vs. 0.19, 0.45m) and “Last Week Tonight” (0.43, 1.18m; did not air last week).
