Lorde’s “Green Light,” Adele’s “Water Under The Bridge” Re-Enter Top 25 At Pop Radio

Lorde [NBC]

Two weeks ago, Lorde’s “Green Light” debuted at #25 on the Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

It slipped to #26 on last week’s chart but moves back into the Top 25 this week.

Played 3,828 times during the March 12-18 tracking week (+1,074), “Green Light” jumps to #21 on this week’s listing.

“Green Light” is one of two songs to re-enter the Top 25 this week.

Adele’s “Water Under The Bridge,” the other, rises two spots to #25 on the strength of its 2,343 (+131).

Airplay for “Water Under The Bridge” has been following an interesting trajectory in recent weeks. After (seemingly) peaking inside the Top 20 earlier this year, “Water Under The Bridge” started free-falling in mid-February. It suffered a massive week-to-week airplay loss in the February 12-18 tracking period and then another big drop in the February 19-25 period.

It followed those huge declines with slight gains in the February 26-March 4, March 5-11 and now March 12-18 tracking periods.

While the gains are not big enough to suggest the song is headed back to its peak (let alone the upper reaches of the chart), they have been worthy of notice. It is not often that tracks believed to be in free-fall mode post three consecutive weekly airplay gains.
