John Mayer’s “The Search For Everything – Wave One” has received upgraded opening week US sales and consumption projections.

According to Hits Daily Double, Mayer’s EP is now expected to sell 36-40,000 pure US copies this week. The figure suggests “The Search For Everything” will debut at #1 on Top Album Sales. AFI’s “AFI (The Blood Album),” which represents the closest competition from a pure sales standpoint, is expected to move 25-28,000 copies this week.

With TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) included, “The Search For Everything” is meanwhile expected to generate 48-52,000 first-week consumption units in the US. The Weeknd’s “Starboy” (~53-58,000) is still expected to lead from a consumption standpoint, but Mayer’s EP will be a stronger #2 than initially anticipated.

An album’s weekly consumption total determines its position on the Billboard 200.

Consisting of four songs, “The Search For Everything – Wave One” represents the first taste of Mayer’s new album. The Grammy-winning artist is releasing the album in monthly, four-track “waves.”
