Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World” Cancelled; Series Finale Set For January 20

Girl Meets World [Disney]

The rumors were true: Disney Channel will not be ordering a fourth season of “Girl Meets World.”

The network confirmed that the January 20 third season finale will also serve as a series finale.

“Disney Channel will present the series finale of “Girl Meets World” on FRIDAY, JANUARY 20 (6:00 p.m. EST). In the episode, “Girl Meets Goodbye,” the Matthews family contemplates a life-changing decision,” says the Disney Channel statement. “We are proud that for over 70 episodes, Michael Jacobs, April Kelly and the talented creative team, cast and crew entertained viewers with an authentic and heartfelt look at navigating adolescence.”

Specific details behind the cancellation were not available at press time.

Live+same-day viewership has fallen significantly this season (the December 2 episode drew a series low L+SD audience of 1.20 million), but that issue seems to be affecting several Disney Channel programs.
