Fifth Harmony’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Performance Still Scheduled To Air

Fifth Harmony [ABC]

In the wake of Camila Cabello’s departure from the group, fans were left wondering whether the Fifth Harmony’s pre-taped performance (which, from all indications, includes Cabello) would air as part of Saturday’s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” broadcast.

The answer seemed to be “yes.”

A graphic announcing the performance and soundbites from an interview with Fifth Harmony remained in the official media kit. The official NYRE Twitter account has also been promoting appearances by Kid Ink and Ty Dolla $ign, who respectively joined Fifth Harmony on “Worth It” and “Work From Home.” If their performances were set to air on the show, it was essentially a given that Fifth Harmony would also be appearing.

Still, NYRE’s official Twitter account had refrained from explicitly mentioning Fifth Harmony in the wake of the Cabello news. Fifth Harmony and Cabello had also been silent on the upcoming performance. That silence, coupled with the obvious complication regarding how “NYRE” would explain Cabello’s involvement in the performance (without admitting it was pre-taped), allowed skepticism to persist.

It should persist no longer. Friday afternoon, the official NYRE account Tweeted that Fifth Harmony’s performance will be featured on Saturday’s broadcast. All five members are featured in the GIF accompanying the announcement.

It is not clear how or if the broadcast will address Cabello’s presence, but it does appear that fans will get to see the successful girl group perform multiple songs Saturday night. Per the press kit interview, Fifth Harmony taped performances of “That’s My Girl,” “Work From Home (featuring Ty Dolla $ign),” and “Worth It (featuring Kid Ink).”
