The Weeknd’s “Starboy” predictably set the opening week streaming record on Spotify.

According to a press note from The Outcast Agency, the album drove over 223 million opening week track streams on the Spotify platform. The sum marks the greatest opening week Spotify total ever achieved by an album.

The record-setting week also includes a record-setting day. The Weeknd generated over 40 million streams in a single day, which ranks as the best ever achieved by an artist on Spotify.

The Weeknd “is now the #1 artist on Spotify based on monthly listeners,” adds the press note.

As previously reported, The Weeknd’s “Starboy” will debut at #1 on this week’s Billboard Top Album Sales (pure sales) and Billboard 200 (total consumption) charts.
