“Doctor Strange” Again Wins US Weekend Box Office; “Arrival” Starts At #3

Neither “Arrival” nor any other new arrival could dethrone “Doctor Strange” at the weekend US box office.

Credited with an estimated $43.0 million in weekend receipts, “Doctor Strange” stays on top of the chart. It now boasts a cumulative total of $153.0 million.

“Trolls” holds at #2 with $35.1 million (cume now $94.0 million), while “Arrival” starts at #3 on the strength of its $24.0 million.

Fellow newcomer “Almost Christmas” takes fourth place with $15.6 million.

“Hacksaw Ridge,” which debuted at #3 last week, slips to #5 this week. It added $10.8 million to its total (cume now $32.3 million).

“Shut In,” the third of this week’s three major new releases, takes #7 with $3.7 million.
