Designed for the European market, MTV’s annual EMA ceremony is not aggressively promoted in the United States.

The US braodcast accordingly does not come with high ratings expectations.

It is, however, still worth looking at year-over-year performance. In this case, it suffered a decline.

According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, MTV’s tape-delayed broadcast of the 2016 MTV EMA drew a 0.13 adults 18-49 rating and 269,000 total viewers. The 2015 show drew a 0.17 rating and 420,000.
