The Chainsmokers & Halsey’s “Closer” Pacing For 11th Week At #1 On Hot 100

This past week, The Chainsmokers’ “Closer (featuring Halsey)” claimed #1 on a tenth straight edition of the Billboard Hot 100.

In doing so, it achieved the longest #1 streak of 2016. It also tied Drake’s “One Dance (featuring WizKid & Kyla)” for most total weeks at #1 in 2016.

This coming week, “Closer” should break that tie.

The smash hit is on pace to comfortably retain #1, thus securing an eleventh straight week on top.

Since there are fewer than eleven weeks remaining in the year and “One Dance” is no longer a factor, there will be no threat to its crown. It will officially go down as the year’s longest-reigning #1.

— “Closer” is also poised to spend a sixth straight week at #1 on the Mediabase pop chart. Upon doing so, it will achieve 2016’s longest streak — and tie Sia’s “Cheap Thrills (featuring Sean Paul)” for most total weeks at #1 in 2016.
