The Chainsmokers “Closer” Earns 9th Week As Australia’s #1 Song; Niall’s “This Town” Joins Top 5

In remaining #1 on last week’s ARIA Australian Top 50 Singles chart, The Chainsmokers’ “Closer (featuring Halsey)” tied Lukas Graham’s “7 Years” for the longest reign of 2016.

In continuing its reign through this week, “Closer” breaks the tie. It now outright ranks as Australia’s longest-reigning #1 of 2016.

The triple-platinum “Closer” spends a ninth week atop the ARIA singles chart.

Calum Scott’s “Dancing On My Own” again holds at #2, while James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go” is stationary at #3.

Up one place, The Weeknd’s “Starboy (featuring Daft Punk)” grabs #4. Niall Horan’s “This Town,” the week’s highest ranking debut, follows at #5.

Other notables on this week’s chart:

— The Chainsmokers’ “All We Know (featuring Phoebe Ryan)” starts at #11.

— Shawn Mendes’ “Mercy” rises four places to #18.

— Keith Urban’s “The Fighter” re-enters at #31.
