The Chainsmokers & Halsey’s “Closer” Expected To Reach #1 At Pop Radio

Last week, Major Lazer’s “Cold Water (featuring Justin Bieber & M0)” reached #1 on the Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

The Chainsmokers’ “Closer (featuring Halsey)” is poised to achieve the feat this week.

“Closer” received 7,222 spins during the first three days of the September 18-24 tracking week.

While the count trails the 7,262 achieved by “Cold Water” during that same window, it puts “Closer” in position to overtake the Major Lazer tune in the coming days.

“Closer” has a clear momentum advantage — it is up 16.4% week-to-week, while “Cold Water” is only up 6.5%. Barring a drastic change in pace, “Closer” will be pop radio’s #1 song by the time the chart goes final.

“Closer” will be the second pop radio #1 for The Chainsmokers, whose previous single “Don’t Let Me Down” spent three weeks on top. It will be the first for Halsey.
