The closing moments of the “Suits” summer finale featured numerous game-changing moments.
As those moments unfolded, Desi Valentine’s “Fate Don’t Know You” was playing in the background. As it was not readily available until Wednesday (when it made its iTunes debut), typical sleuthing strategies – such as searching for the song based on its lyrics – would probably not have been successful.
Luckily, the artist provided confirmation on his official Twitter account.
So what were the game-changing developments?
— Jessica (Gina Torres), who thanks to the death row case (which she and Rachel won) remembers why she first became a lawyer, opts to leave her firm — and the world of corporate law. She’s moving to Chicago with Jeff, and she’ll use her legal prowess for more altruistic endeavors. The firm now belongs to Harvey and Louis.
— Upon learning that Tara is pregnant with her ex-boyfriend’s baby, Louis wants to provide reassurance that he is still committed to her. He proposes, and she accepts.
— Mike is presently determining whether he wants to rejoin the firm. Harvey offered him the opportunity to come back as a junior partner — officially as a consultant rather than a lawyer — but Mike is unsure how he feels about returning to the firm he personally jeopardized.
— The last scene finds an emotional Harvey looking out the window of his office. He is sad to see his mentor exit but unquestionably respectful of her decision. Donna is there to provide comfort; she and Harvey hold hands as the first half of season six concludes.
