The Chainsmokers & Halsey’s “Closer” Scoring Very Well With Pop Radio Listeners

The Chainsmokers’ “Closer (featuring Halsey)” is flying up the pop radio airplay chart.

Based on the latest Mediabase/Critical Mass Media listener callout report, audiences are quite pleased with the growing airplay.

“Closer” receives a positive reaction from 69.2% of surveyed listeners, a negative reaction from 10.8% of surveyed listeners and thus a net positive reaction from 58.3%.

Of the 26 “current” pop songs measured in this week’s report, “Closer” has the highest positive and net positive scores. It boasts the lowest negative score.

Despite being fairly new, it also holds the sixth-greatest “favorite” score (22.5%).

Given its modest familiarity level and the fact that Mediabase callout data has become more volatile (likely due to the reduced survey sample size), it is possible that the scores may slip in the coming weeks.

On the other hand, it is very easy to believe the glowing scores: “Closer” is by far the #1 song on US iTunes and US Spotify. It is clearly clicking with listeners.
